Description

Silicon Carbides (SiC) make up a family that exhibits characteristically high hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance in addition to unique features that can be designed into the product for specific applications.

Careful manufacturing control can change the volumetric resistivity. Certain formulations have graphite embedded into the grain structure for lubrication, at the cost of flexural strength. Additionally, by utilizing Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), ceramics engineers can build up precise parts or coatings on the molecular layer level, making ultra-high purity (>99.9995%) ceramics.
